Biography

Josh Hector is a licensed Psychologist from Grenada and a proud Caribbean National. He holds a Bachelor of Arts in General Studies with an emphasis in Guidance and Counselling from the Jamaica Theological Seminary, and a Master of Science in Counselling Psychology from the University of The West Indies, Cave Hill. He has functioned in the roles of Guidance Counsellor at Halfway-Tree Primary School in Kingston Jamaica, and Counselling Psychologist at a Barbadian agency called PAREDOS (which stands for Parent Education for Development in Barbados); out of which he was actively involved in school and community outreach programs. In Grenada, he has lectured part-time at St. George’s University within the Humanities and Social Sciences Department. Mr. Hector is also the Founder and Senior Psychologist at Optimal Solutions, a private practice that offers counselling, psychotherapy, teletherapy, workshops, seminars, and employee assistance programs. Most recently, Mr. Hector has been appointed Director of Mental Health & Substance Issues within the Ministry of Health Wellness & Religious Affairs. In line with his self-development focus, he is pursuing his doctorate in Clinical Psychology at California Southern University. Being a helping professional at heart, he considers it a blessing to interact with others and share insightful tips for practical and effective living.
