Nerisa Bethel, a licensed clinical social worker, brings a unique blend of Caribbean heritage and professional experience to her practice in Grenada. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, with Grenadian and Trinidadian roots, Nerisa has always felt a deep connection to island life. This connection fueled her decision to pursue her Master's degree at St. George's University (SGU) and ultimately establish her practice in Grenada. For over two years, Nerisa has provided invaluable virtual clinical services to the Grenadian community. Her expertise encompasses working with children (from four years old onwards), teenagers, adults, and couples. She is also skilled in facilitating group therapy sessions and conducting psychological assessments for both children and adults. Beyond clinical work, Nerisa actively collaborates with community members in St. Andrew and St. John parishes. She conducts needs assessments, ensuring that community concerns inform her interventions and treatment plans. This collaborative approach highlights Nerisa’s commitment to working alongside clients, detaching from hierarchal and power centered thinking. In her own words:
I would like to join clients on their journey of self-discovery by cultivating a psychologically flexible
and post-colonial therapeutic space. I do not assume the stance of an expert – who holds all the
answers, but one who welcomes all that you have to share, through a client-centered, trauma
informed, acceptance and commitment therapeutic (ACT) approach.
Nerisa welcomes her clients’ experiences and perspectives. She believes in a mutual learning process and along with the team, strives for everyone to lead their most value driven, optimal lives.
